Means of transportation

In town : taxi with white VW beetles or combis with white VW minibus, with the destination on the windscreen. Wave to stop them ($4 in the city). Don’t venture with a rental car... The streets are narrow and down and uphill. And parking is an issue. Service of radio taxi 622 03 01.

Bus stations :

Terminal Estrella Blanca/Flecha Roja, avenue of los Plateros # 310 - (762) 622 01 31 – About ten departures to Mexico City (Terminal Sur) , 5 to Acapulco (5h ride), a dozen to Cuernavaca (1h30) and Puebla, 3 to Toluca (2h30) from Acapulco. $ 100-105 present fees for one way in First Class to México, (ride duration: 2h45). Terminal Estrella de Oro, avenue of the Plateros (ex-av. John F. Kennedy) # 126 - (762) 622 06 48 to Acapulco, Cuernavaca and Mexico City (Terminal Sur) : about ten departures; $105 present fee for one way in First Class to Mexico City ( ride duration 2h45). Same price as the companies Estrella Blanca and Roja with a better comfort.

Visitor Centers
Secretaría de Fomento Turístico, close to Los Arcos, avenue Plateros # 1 - (762) 622 22 74 - open 10AM-2PM and 4PM-6PM, Mon-Fri – Very off-center and not always open during the opening hours - www.guerrero.gob.mx -
Town Visitor center in front of the Mine Museum (Plateros and Cuerva del Manguito), (762) 622 50 73 – limited information but friendly and committed tourist guides.

Post-office : close to the city hall or close to the Bus Terminal "Estrella de Oro" open 9AM-4PM, Mon-Fri and 9AM-1PM on Saturdays.

Laundry : Lavandería on the avenue Plateros 8 min walking from the Bus Terminal Flecha Roja/Estrella Blanca on the left going towards Iguala, a little bit after the IMSS and the hospital – open 9AM-7PM, Mon-Sat.

Shopping : You can buy masks There are jewelry stores everywhere in town starting on Plaza Borda and in the wholesale market (ave.Cuauhtémoc), but also on Hidalgo and the Centro Joyero San Angel by the side of Santa Veracruz church (55 boutiques), 622 33 35. The tianguis Sabatino is hold on Saturdays (This silver market is open from 7AM but the booths are not really set up before 10AM). It is a string of small booths and boutiques behind the Bus Terminal Estrella Blanca/Flecha Roja. There is a lot of people and a lot of choices that are not too expensive. We suggest that you visit the "workshops of Emilia Castillo" (boutique in "Emilia Castillo" hotel) and “Talleres de los Ballesteros" (av. de los Plateros # 68). You will admire nice silver pieces.
