Before
reaching IXTAPA-ZIHUATANEJO, we stopped at Troncones, a small
fishing village located 40 km (24 miles) from IXTAPA. It is
a quiet place with a large beach ideal for surfing. In this
village, there are no huge hotels but only comfortable inns,
bungalows and private villas. Troncones is an excellent quiet
place before the tourist swarm of the neighboring cities !
Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo
Located 250 km (150 miles) north from Acapulco, Zihuatanejo
is a nice fishing village converted into a sea resort. In the
seventies, they built a huge hotel complex, called Ixtapa, replacing
coconut tree plantations. These two resorts share the same airport.
It is a popular place. Mexican families come here for weekends
or holidays. It is the anti-Acapulco. People come here for sports
or looking for tan.
