 Puerto Vallarta (PVR) : International Airport Gustavo Díaz Ordáz located 5 miles (7.5 km) from the city. Flights with Aeromexico and low cost companies like VivaAerobús, Interjet, Volaris as well as flights with American companies and charters from Canada.
Many rental car stalls are located at the airport as well as a post office, banks and foreign exchange offices. There is no locker.

Transportation from the airport to downtown: $120 by taxi or $90 by colectivo, (for one person).

The city cabs are yellow cars and they charge by the ride, not the person. Always agree on the price before boarding. For $5.5, you can ride a bus. There are at every street corner. The buses with the sign "centro" on the windshield head downtown. The ones with the sign "Tunel" or "Olas Altas" go directly to Olas Altas avoiding downtown. The buses with the sign "Ixtapa", "Las Juntas" and "Las Palmas" go to the airport.

In this part of Mexico, you will often be harassed by vendors for condominiums or "time shares".

Flights from Mexico City or Toluca to several mexican destinations (Acapulco, Huatulco, Puerto Vallarta, Cancun, Ixtapa, Tuxtla, Chihuahua....).

Bus
The bus station is located 1.2 miles (2 km) north from the airport. There are lockers ($3 /hour/luggage, open 24/7), a travel agency, a window for taxis and restaurants. The cost of the ride from downtown to the bus station by taxi is $100. There are a lot of bus companies : ETN 290 0997, PRIMERA PLUS 290 0715 / 16, TRANSPORTES DEL PACIFICO 290 1001, TAP 290 0119, VALLARTA PLUS 209 0910.

Take the trolley bus (tram) to visit the city. Information at the tourism office. Departures every day at 10AM from your hotel in downtown to Marina Vallarta and then the district of Pitillal, the old city, Mismaloya (visit of a distillery of Tequila), lunch in a nice restaurant and back to the hotel. Fees: 60US$/person; 30US$/child.

Automatic laundries : There are many laundries in Old Vallarta : El Jabon in Cardenas Street, 258 (45 pesos for washing, 50 pesos for drying), another one in Olas Altas. (Always ask the hotel desk to know which one is the closest.

Manzanillo (Colima state)

 Airport

International Airport Playa de Oro, 20 miles (32km) north from Manzanillo. Flights with Aeromexico as well as flights with American companies and charters from Canada.
It is a nice airport, small and clean, 45 min from Manzanillo. No bus but Colectivos (vans) are available to go to the city (downtown for 329 pesos). Taxis fare from downtown to the airport : 300 pesos. There are booths Car Rental (Alamo, Thrifty, Budget, Hertz), Internet and ATM but no locker.

Land transportation

Bus Station : Central de Camioneras, behind the auditorium, on the eastern part of town, 334 6394. They accept US Dollars.

There are many buses to México Norte, Guadalajara, Morelia, Colima, Barra de Navidad, Puerto Vallarta, Zihuatanejo ....

The Camionetas (local buses) run from downtown along the Bay of Manzanillo and the Bay of Santiago. The whole trip to Cihuatlan costs 39 pesos and lasts one hour (15 min in taxi).

Museo Universitario de Arqueologia de Manzanillo, Glorieta San Pedrito, in the University of Colima; 332-2256. It is open 10AM-2PM and 5-8PM from Tuesday to Saturday and 10AM-1PM on Sunday. It displays the magic and splendor of the Pre-Hispanic Occidente.

These are long distance bus stations - Veracruz Cihuatlán, México Norte ($915), Manzanillo, Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta ($220) but there are also buses going to Melaque every 15 minutes.

Barra de Navidad is 20minutes from Manzanillo Airport (closer to the airport than the city of Manzanillo !)
