"Callejoneadas"
When visiting this charming city, you imperatively have to see and
listen to these musician bands. The "Callejoneada" is
a picturesque folk event, held in the streets by local students.
These traditional parades of the night became a ritual and they
are held three to five times a week (weekends and holidays) by different
bands.

A "Callejoneada"
could be called "serenade of the walk". The members
of the band used to dress in the seventeenth century style,
with white shirts, huge pants and capes.
There are groups of ten or more students singing, in the narrow
streets of Guanajuato,
popular songs about the legends of
Guanajuato. They use to start from the Teatro Juárez
or the Market of Hidalgo or the street of the Kiss (callejón
del Beso). The "Callejoneada" starts about
8:00 PM and lasts 1 1/2 hour.
