15-24 june (each year) - Fiestas de San Juan Bautista in Guanajuato (dances, fireworks, artistic and cultural events) – John Day on June 24th is not to be missed !

Third/fourth weeks of october (12-30 oct 2011) : 39th International Cultural Festival Cervantino in Guanajuato, one of the most important cultural events in the country (play, dance, music) – This is an example of successful mix of tradition and modernity. Consult :
Last week of October and first days in November- Fería del Alfeñique in Guanajuato : gastronomy of sweets, preparation of the Day of the Dead.

13 June : celebration of San Anthony of Padua with parades in period costumes, musicians, poets and allegorical songs.

29 july-14 Aug 11 - International Chamber Music Festival in San Miguel de Allende :

15-16 sept- National Independence Fair : The whole country celebrates Miguel Hidalgo’s call for Independence (1810). In the Zócalo of most of cities, at 11 PM on the night of the 15th of September, there is a reenactment of the Grito. The President starts the ceremony from the balconies of the Palacio nacional, in the Zócalo of Mexico City.
There is also a nice ceremony held in Dolorès Hidalgo to celebrate this event !
