Puebla is located at the heart of a high plain overlooked by the two over 5000m (16400 ft) snowcapped volcanoes, the Popocatépetl and the Ixtaccíhuatl. Puebla is, in Mexico, the archetypal “Creole city", the only one without an Indian past. Since the beginning, it was inhabited by Spanish colonists maybe from Talavera de la Reina –who decided to end their days there.
